Is HTC Making the New Nexus Devices?
As the Next version of Android (Nougat) has been revealed and the name has been announced, the rumor is that Google has tasked HTC with making the new Nexus devices. This is something new as it was previously heard that Google might get the entire manufacturing control over the Nexus devices. Rumors are now getting clear as specifications have appeared and even mock up images have been leaked, let's take a look.HTC this year has been tasked to make both Nexus devices unlike the last year when LG and Huawei made one each. The devices are code-named Sailfish (Not to be confused with the Sailfish OS), and, Marlin. While it is to be remembered that no official announcement has been made from either Google, or HTC, and these devices have not been revealed officially.
Looks
By the looks of the mockup image, the device looks very Nexus from the front with stock Android running on the phone. Navigation buttons are embedded in the touchscreen, while it is being said that Google is redesigning the new home button with Google colors so we might see something different.
The corners of the device are said to be made of aluminum in both devices, and the back panel might be made of either glass or plastic (we guess it is plastic). While we can see camera bump, speaker dots (apparently) that are very HTC esque, and a fingerprint scanner.
Specifications
The HTC Nexus Sailfish Model is said to have a 5 inches screen while the Marlin model comes with a 5.5" screen. Both devices have similar specs, while Sailfish is said to be carrying 820 or 821/823 chipsets. There would be 4 gigs of RAM, 32-128 gigs of storage (what about 64 GB model?). Cameras will be 12MP for rear and 8MP on front. Sailfish will be powered with a 2770mAh battery while Marlin model gets a 3450mAh battery.
