HP's Elite x3 will cost you a whopping 799$

HP Elite x3 price unveiled

Overview

HP recently announced its Windows 10 phone which was named as Elite x3. HP is a famous laptop manufacturer and has tried with android smartphones and tablets before (not that they gained that much popularity). Now we will take the look at the device and its specifications to see if they justify the 799$ price tag.

Device and Specifications

The HP Elite x3 has a very decent design. The screen is a 5.96 inch touch panel with a resolution of 1440x2560 which provides a pixel density of 493 pixels per inch which is really good. The screen is protected by Corning's Gorilla 4 glass. There are capacitive touch buttons below the screen. And the designer speaker grill beneath the touch buttons, the output audio is powered by Bang & Olfusen, promising great music quality. The bottom of the device is apparently made of steel while the rest of the body seems to be made of plastic, though we are not sure.
The device comes pack with a high end Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset that runs on four cores with two different frequencies. Device has an internal memory of 64 gigs while there's a microSD card slot that can extend the capacity by up to 256 gigabytes. The device has 4 gigabytes of RAM.
L:ooking at the camera department, the rear shooter is a 16 megapixel sensor with an LED flash. The front camera is an 8 megapixel sensor. both cameras can apparently record videos in 1080p. This device doesnt offer 4K recording which can be a deal breaker at this price point.
The HP ELite x3 comes with a 4150 mAh battery that is removable. While some special features include dust and waterproof certification, MIL-STD 810G testing that means the device is resistant to grade salt, for, humidity, travel shock, and thermal shock that ensures your device will not get damaged by everyday use. This device also comes with an iris scanner. Another interesting thing about this device is Microsoft's Continuum support, that means you can use your phone as a computer by attaching it to a screen through a dock.

Verdict

There are good things about HP Elite x3 and some new features. But some shortcomings as the device doesnt offer 4K video recording, and has 4 gigs of RAM while Android flagships are now coming with 6 gigabytes of RAM and cost $200-300 lesser than that. $799 for a Windows device doesnt look a great deal while android flagships with a $400 price tag offer better specifications. The device in European countries with VAT will be available for around 699 Euros, while you can pre-order the device in the UK for GBP680.
